Credits & Plans

Understanding how credits work and plan limits for video generation.

Credit Costs

Credits are consumed when generating video content. Here's how credits are used:

OperationCostNotes
Scene generation1 credit per sceneAI generates an image for each scene
Audio generation1 credit per 1,000 charactersText-to-speech for narration
Script generationFreeIncluded at no extra cost
Video renderingFreeIncluded at no extra cost

Example

A video with 10 scenes and 2,500 characters of audio costs:

  • Scene images: 10 credits
  • Audio narration: 3 credits (2,500 chars Ãˇ 1,000 = 2.5, rounded up)
  • Total: 13 credits

â„šī¸ Credit Refunds

If image or audio generation fails (e.g., API timeout), credits are automatically refunded. You only pay for successful generations.

âš ī¸ Insufficient Credits

If you try to create a video with insufficient credits, the API returns INSUFFICIENT_CREDITS (HTTP 402). See Errors for details.

â„šī¸ Auto-Cleanup

After a video completes, intermediate files (scene images, audio, debug images) are deleted immediately — only the final video and thumbnail are kept. Completed videos are auto-deleted after the retention period expires.

â„šī¸ Manage Your Plan

Billing, subscription management, and usage tracking are available in the Sketchpen Dashboard. These are not available via the API.
